Excerpt from Behind the Same Front Door - sung by Peter McColgan & Cindy West

GERRY AND SOPHIE

We’ve stuck it out through such a lot

We never bargained for.

Don’t ask if we’re in love or not,

We’re behind the same front door.

GERRY

Yer on me toe there, woman!

SOPHIE

Oh sorry, luv.

GERRY

I’ve just polished those shoes.

SOPHIE

Ah, come ’ere. Aah….

GERRY

Well we’ve gorra long together,

With the just odd tiff and fight,

But taking girls like our three,

Something we did must be right.

SOPHIE

And Lucy’s learned from the fright.

GERRY

Serve her right!

SOPHIE

I recall when they were still small

And our Berni taught Ella to read

GERRY

We didn’t know most girls don’t grow

And develop their gifts at that speed.

SOPHIE

Whatever will all this talent lead to?

GERRY

They’ll move on to the new life they need.

GERRY AND SOPHIE

We’ve stuck it out through such a lot

We never bargained for.

Don’t ask if we’re in love or not,

We’re behind the same front door.
