Excerpt from Back in the City of Liverpool - sung by Tony Adamson

I’m back in the city of Liverpool,

Old Ireland’s pride,

To encourage the Irish community

On Merseyside.

I’m visiting all of our family tree

That’s growing all over the Earth,

With leaves in Sydney and Mexico City

And roots in the land of our birth.

I’m here to promise me relatives all,

The town is Ireland’s right up to the hilt,

For sure it was entirely the Irish

Who got the bloody thing built.

I’m speaking for all me country

From Donegal down to Cork,

For I’m probably king of the Irish

Through me uncle in New York.

I’m back in the city of Liverpool

Me tricolour unfurled

For the capital city of Ireland

Is the capital of the world!

He’s back in the city of Liverpool

His tricolour unfurled

For the capital city of Ireland

Is the capital of the world!
