John Dixon

(Dixon, Lady Lillian’s Butler)

John Dixon’s CV is missing: in short, we don’t know who he is. Reliability of the references is doubtful, since they ascribe to him an impossibly early birth date and give his occupation as tank crewman, guitarist, clothes-peg restorer, chorister, poet, lecturer, researcher and cow-doctor with a morbid interest in worms. Writings on these activities are attributable to John, but are of progressively deepening obscurity.  The identity of John with the lyricist of this show, and with Lady Lillian’s butler is confused. Both creations were bestowed at rehearsals by a man generally supposed to be living in The Picket, but nobody liked to ask.  No coherent picture of John emerges. More outlandish opinions round James Street suggest he is trying to get to Neston by train.

Peter Reeve was born in down-town Birkenhead a mile or so from Liverpool centre (as the crow flies) and began his singing career in the Birkenhead Institute Grammar School Choir at age 11 but was ejected, soon afterwards, when his voice broke and he could no longer manage the sweet descants.  His acting began (after a bet) as a very nervous Russian constable in Fiddler on the Roof with Lifeline Productions at The Little Theatre and has included many roles from Curly in Oklahoma  to Billis in South Pacific  and to an extremely menacing Sykes terrorising young Oliver. This is Pete’s first diversion into a play with original music and lyrics (and venue) and he is enjoying the new challenge tremendously.
