Cindy West was born and raised in Edge Hill, an area of Liverpool not far from Old Swan (birthplace of Ella McCabe). She left the City in 1981 to pursue a nursing career, but being a Scouser, her heart was always stirred at the sight of the Liver Birds at the Mersey’s edge whenever she returned for a visit. Her first public performance was at the age of 8 years on the Royal Iris Mersey ferry boat when she sang Hello Dolly to an audience of Mums, Dads and kids from her school, totally impromtu, but loved every minute and was hooked from then on. She now lives across the Mersey in Cheshire, (much posher than Mrs McCabe, her stage character!), but commutes to Liverpool daily, where she works for the National Blood Service as a nurse.
